JONATHAN MCARTHUR

Jonathan is a Natural State native who graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in horticulture and minored in sustainability. Most recently, he managed a small but intensive fruit and vegetable farm for the Samaritan Community Center, a nonprofit feeding organization with offices in Springdale and Rogers. Jonathan is a vocal farming advocate and serves as vice president of development for the Arkansas Young Famers Coalition. In 2013, he started the Samaritan Garden that’s now producing 12,000 to 14,000 pounds of food annually for two soup kitchens and two food pantries. The year prior, he helped UA launch its first on campus community garden. Jonathan joined the Farm Team in 2018 and will help design and manage Red Barn’s urban farm.
